Testing: Boy Fit Pants

My son needed pants and shorts so when MCDI sent out a testing call for a boys pants/shorts pattern, I knew I needed to participate. This Boys Fit Pants (affiliate link) is adorable and can be used for nearly any type of fabric.

I made my son son pants and shorts using stretch denim – which is actually a woven material, but it had enough stretch to fit the needs of this pattern. I ordered by from Fab Clique Fabrics and let me tell you their shipping is lightening fast.

The first two versions I made were a bit long for my little guy, but it was easy to adjust that. I did also have some issues with elastic length to make sure the pants would fit my little guy and ended up needing to adjust the elastic size down to 17.75″. The pattern does recommend checking the elastic length against your intended wearer before cutting to make sure it will work – I definitely recommend this. I also know that not all elastics are created equal. If you have a new order of elastic or one you’ve never used, you may need to make sure it will work well. For this pattern I used elastic I got off of Amazon you can find it here (aff link). It is a no-roll elastic and I’ve used it for many patterns. I really like it.

I also made a pair of stretch corduroy pants, which were absolutely adorable. He ended up wearing them out for an Easter Egg Hunt and bowling.

I have several more planned for him and a little birdie told me that these will also be tested for men, women, and girls. The whole family is going to get some pants!
